The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to construct an Iconic bridge across River Krishna as part of connecting the new capital city Amaravati with National Highway 65 between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The new bridge will come up in between Kaja-Pedaoutpally on Vijayawada bypass road.
Larsen & Toubro Limited has come out with six designs of the iconic bridge and it was submitted to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his approval. Of these, the CM was impressed with one design based on Kuchipudi dance art, which is considered as an cultural identity of Andhra Pradesh and hence he feels that it would reflect the culture of people of this state. He asked Larsen & Toubro Limited to formulate flower like double-decker design and submit a detailed report within 15 days.
The CM wanted the upper bridge to be used for public recreations like Marathon, Jogging, Yoga, food courts, cycling and other festivals and the lower one for vehicular movement. The CM informed the concerned officials to put the designs on public domains to seek public opinion on these designs.
