Poll battle for assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will come to an end today. The final round of voting in Uttar Pradesh is underway amid tight security. A total of 535 candidates are in the fray for 40 constituencies spread over 7 districts of Poorvanchal or east UP. Actually, Poorvanchal has 89 seats, but 49 of these voted for on March 4th.
Among the key constituencies, Varanasi is the centre of attraction as PM Narendra Modi represents this parliamentary constituency.
SP-Congress, BSP eyeing to capture as many assembly seats as possible coming under this Loksabha Constituency. Keeping this in mind, all parties have taken rallies and leaders have campaigned for the last one week in Varanasi. Even Prime Minister Modi spent three days in his constituency taking out two road shows and addressing two major rallies.
In 2012 elections, SP got a majority of 23 seats followed by BSP with 5 seats. BJP was won 4, Congress 3 and others victories in 5 constituencies. The BJP is looking to make a comeback in the state after 15 years, while Congress-SP Combine hopes to make inroads in Modi’s constituency.
